Doctoral study
Within our group, PhD students from the Applied Physics doctoral program actively participate in and contribute to the research activities. As part of this doctoral study program, our group also teaches the courses Plasma Diagnostics and Electrical Discharges and Their Applications.
Bachelor’s and Master’s studies
For students of all Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs, our group offers the elective course Physics for Power Engineering. In addition to the principles of nuclear reactors and nuclear fusion, students are introduced to electrical discharges, particle acceleration techniques, lasers, and other fascinating areas of physics that cannot be covered in detail within standard introductory physics courses.
Our group also regularly supervises Bachelor’s and Master’s thesis projects on a wide range of engaging research topics. In recent years, theses on topics such as the following have been successfully defended:
- Energy Spectrum Analysis of Laser Accelerated Ions via Thomson Parabola Spectrometer
- Study of laser plasma and it’s applications in biomedicine
- Spectrometry of Electrons Accelerated by Pulsed High-power Laser
- Study of z-pinch discharges in PFZ-200 plasma focus device
- Design and implementation of electronic unit of silver activation neutron detector
- Effect of anode shape on hard x-ray and neutron emission in a dense plasma focus
- Dynamic range of photomultipliers in pulse mode
- Problems of controlled thermonuclear fusion
- Optimizing of experimental load of PFZ-200 plasma focus
- Neutron yield measurement using silver activation counter
- Design of nuclear fusion neutrons
Projects performed at our group are often recognized and awarded at student conferences and summer schools, for example, POSTER at FEE CTU or Kudowa Summer School “Towards Fusion Energy”.

Popularisation
In addition to university teaching, our group is also actively involved in science outreach and popularization activities, particularly through the traditional Physics Thursdays lecture series (Fyzikální čtvrtky).
